This activity is perfect if you are looking for some last minute Halloween fun for your kiddos. The only materials you need are a few rolls of toilet paper.
I started this activity off with a discussion about mummies. Depending on the age of your kids and their prior knowledge on mummies, you can make this discussion as simple or as in depth as you want. We have been talking about all things Halloween this past month, so the kids knew what mummies were. I decided to add a little bit of history/geography into this activity by discussing some of the most famous mummies found in Egypt. First, we searched for Egypt on the globe we have in our playroom (click here to get your own from Amazon) and then I found some pictures of pyramids and mummies on my phone to show them.
Next was the fun part, trying to look like a mummy. I demonstrated by wrapping my arm and face with toilet paper to show the kids what they were going to do. (The kids thought I looked pretty silly!) We then chose someone to wrap first and worked together to wrap them up with the toilet paper. (I ended up doing most of the wrapping because the toilet paper ripped pretty easily when the kids tried to wrap each other. If I was to do this activity again, I would try using streamer paper or first-aid bandages instead.)
The kids had a blast being wrapped up! Even the baby wanted to join in on the fun! Once they were all wrapped, the toilet paper didn’t stay on long once they started running around and pretending to be mummies.
Once the toilet paper fell off, I ended up with a huge mess in the middle of the floor. Instead of cleaning it up right away, we pretended that the pieces of paper were leaves and jumped into the “leaf” pile.
This activity only lasted about fifteen minuets for us, but since it didn’t take me any set-up time I really didn’t mind. If I was to do this activity again I would use either streamer paper or first-aid bandages to wrap the kids up with. It would be sturdier and allow the kids to wrap each other up and be able to walk around like mummies after they got wrapped up.

Looks like a fun activity! The boys are enjoying it! Another activity my kids always enjoyed was playing in the Halloween Costume box. I always kept a tub of costumes they could dress up with.
That is a fun activity! Kids love getting dressed up, especially around Halloween!
